UPLAC Bi-monthly Meeting: The monthly meeting of Subhadya Union Parishad under Keraniganj Upazila was held on the date 11.5.2022 Mr. Alamgir Hossain, Member, Subhadya Union said that legal aid cases need to be disposed of expeditiously. Our secretary has sent two women from our Union Parishad to the District Legal Aid Office but the settlement date is late. Our union is a densely populated union and needs to campaign for more government legal aid.
Courtyard meeting: The courtyard meetings were arranged in two wards in Jantrail union in May- 2022 in our working Upazila Nawabganj under Dhaka district. This courtyard meeting was organized engaging Union Legal Aid Committee and Aparajeyo-Bangladesh (local partner of Promoting Peace and Justice -PPJ, Dhaka). The PPJ project is funded by USAID and implemented by Democracy International. Courtyard meeting was run with the consent of the Chairman and the Secretary of the following union’s Parishad who are Chairman and Member Secretary of the Union Legal Aid Committee. The respective Field Officer of Aparajeyo Bangladesh facilitated the sessions. At least one Union Legal Aid Committee member was present and provided seating arrangements for the participants of the courtyard meeting.
